"Oh
Lizzie, quickly give me your hat and coat, I am so glad
you're home, you've been away for ages" said an excited
Supey, "I've missed you so muct: and I have heaps to
tell you". "Calm down" insisted Lizzie, "let
me get inside the house first".
"How
was your holiday Lizzie, how was Auntie Alison and Uncle
Stuart?" enquired a still very excited Supey. "Great,
great and great" said Lizzie, who was only thinking
about a nice warm bath and a long sleep.
"So,
what's been going on with you while I've been away Supey,
keeping out of trouble I hope" said Lizzie.
"Lizzie,
I have had just the best time, you have missed out on so
much fun. You know our credit union", "of course"
snapped a grumpy Lizzie, "well, they had a big BBQ
and street party and
Arnie and I went along and we had a blast.
There
were so many kids there, I made heaps of new friends."
"I see", said Lizzie, "I go away to visit
my Aunt and Uncle and when I get back, you've got new friends."
Supey, realising that Lizzie was feeling a bit left out
said "don't worry, you and Arnie are still my best
friends."

"You
should have seen it Lizzie, there were balloons and showbags
and sausages in bread, there was even a clown who was painting
faces. It was unreal" exclaimed Supey.
Trying
to hold back a yawn, Lizzie asked Supey "why was our
credit union having a street party and BBQ?"
Just
because" replied Supey. "I don't think they would
have gone to so much trouble for no reason Supey, do you?"
enquired
Lizzie. "Mmmm, you're right Lizzie, there was a reason,
I was just stalling while I tried to remember what it was"
said Supey, feeling a little ashamed because a really nice
lady from the credit union gave a talk to all the kids and
explained the reason for the BBQ and street party.
"I
remember, I remember" exclaimed Supey "because on
one special day every year, every credit union around the
whole entire world has a party to say credit unions are for
their members, belonging to a credit unions is great. "
"Sounds like a good reason to me", said Lizzie "There
is no way I'm going to miss the celebrations next year."
